Our surf school & surf shop in spain offers you quality in an amazing environment. With 13 years of experience in teaching in this beautiful area, our school can cater to your every need.
We have a team of passionate end experienced surf teachers, who all have international accredited certification and experience in teaching in this region.
Furthermore we are lucky to be able to offer you our surf lessons in the stunning scenery of the Oyambre national park. There are several surf breaks on 2 different beaches, all really close to each other, which offers waves for almost every taste. A dream for longbord surfing!

The elementsurf team are passionate surfers themselves. Looking back, they could have saved a lot of time and energy with the right surf course.
After a training at the International Surfing Association they developed and optimized their teaching concept more and more and today they look back on more than 13 years of successful surf school experience and many happy faces.

Surf Shop & Surf School
Hangout in our surf shop! You can choose from different types of rental boards like foam boards, different NSP boards and longboards (in cooperation with Longboard Academy)!
We try to keep the selection of different fins, leashes, accessories like sunscreen and clothing as ecological as possible. Have a coffee and browse through our books about surf culture.
Throughout the summer we organise a few events every week, so keep an eye on our social media if you don’t want to miss them!
Surf Shop and school
THEORY (optional)
In our surf theory lessons, we cover a wide range of topics. The contents are obviously closely related to surfing, nature, oceans and meteorology. You will learn about the formation and breaking of waves, how atmospheric phenomena influence the ocean surface, and many more topics that will help you to improve your experience in this beautiful sport.
By the end of the course week, you will have learned why the biggest waves in the world break in Nazaré, Portugal. And why the beaches of San Vicente de la Barquera (Playa de Gerra and Playa de Oyambre), offer optimal conditions for surfing lessons. You will learn how to read and understand the surf forecast, which will be very helpful in planning your next surfing holiday. And you can learn about board shapes and material, so you could start dreaming of your perfect ride!
PRACTICE SURF
The practical part of the surf lessons or longboard surfing courses starts with a warm-up program on the beach. Various games and exercises prepare you and your body for the following surf! After a collective spot and wave check (wave size, current, type of wave, etc.) off you go to the practical elementsurf lessons. Now it’s time to use the knowledge you’ve achieved to practice in the water.
Depending on your surf course level, the instructor will show you the right paddle technique or help you choose the right waves in waist-high water while giving you tips and hints. In addition, the surf instructor will take you out of the water time and again and give you individual feedback on the beach.
Once a week you can take big advantage of the video analysis. Together with your surf instructor, you will watch and comment on the recordings and subsequently improve your surfing skills in the surf lessons. Surely there will also be something to say about the surfing rules.
COOLDOWN PHASE
After a great day of surf lessons, there are lots of possibilities for you to relax and recover your muscles. During our lessons, we will give you some tips about stretching and treating your muscles well after surfing. At the surf school, we have Blackrolls with an exercise programme that will help you to recover for the next day of surf lessons. You can enjoy a hot shower to relax your body.
Maybe you want to chill with our awesome crew at the school, which is just a nice place to hang out as well, or check one of our cool surfbooks and enjoy a coffee. If you still have too much energy afterwards and want to go for another session, you can rent a board or ask our crew about yoga possibilities.
PARADISE OF CANTABRIA: OUR SURF SCHOOL IN SPAIN
With all the scenic, cultural and social diversity, it is hard to believe that Cantabria is the third smallest province in Spain. On an area of only 5000 km2 you will find a true natural paradise that rises from sea level up to 2500 m altitude in the snow-covered Picos de Europa.
On the more than 220 km long coastline, the influence of the Gulf Stream provides a mild climate all year round and the water temperatures rise up to 21°C in summer.
Besides the modern capital of Cantabria, Santander, there are numerous small mountain villages and idyllic coastal towns like Comillas or San Vicente de la Barquera to discover near our surf school.
The culinary offer of Cantabria ranges from simple traditional dishes to star restaurants. Cantabria also has a lot to offer in terms of culture.
Besides the Picos de Europa National Park, Oyambre is another of the 7 nature parks of Cantabria, which are under special protection due to their ecological importance. Our lessons our held in this natural beauty with a view on the Picos the Europa natural park, come and check out this unique location!
